ugh...
2003 9-5 AERO w/ 113,000 miles (manual)
my transmission has been acting squirly for a while so i took it to my mechanic to look at. he confirmed that the transmission is bad, and said "if we do this, we're probably get back there and see that the clutch needs to be replaced. And there's the slave cylinder back there too that should be replaced. And the oil pressure switch is bad, it's been leaking oil all over so it's totally eaten away the rubber engine mounts, so those will need to be replaced..."
he had a guy he was going to call to see about a transmission for me and said "you can take your car in the meantime. it's not pretty to drive, but you should be OK." well, i was on the interstate last night and it started chugging, then as i pulled to the break-down lane, the front tires seized up and i came to a screeching halt. so i had it towed back to his garage last night. in addition to the above mentioned:
need new brakes (knew that)
SID is saying PARK ASSIST FAILURE (he said "i've never seen one of those go bad before") and BRAKE LIGHT FAILURE
orange warning light below the gas gauge about the xenon headlights...they think it might be the leveling sensor. lights still work, but when that kicks on they tilt down a little.
The good thing is that this guy is a really good mechanic and does a lot for not a lot of money. When he was rambling on the list of everything that might need to get done, he said "this might get upwards of, you know...maybe $2,500.") That's pretty cheap to get everything done, i just don't want to pay to fix it and then 6 months later have something else fall apart on me. Thoughts/concerns?
