How different are your snows? Posted by B Millar [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: ESP and tire rotations...., Mark from toronto, Sat, 14 Nov 2009 09:24:19 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I just swapped mine on this morning. The set only has one season on them and I put the fronts from last year on the rear, and the rears on the front. The difference in wear is almost non-existent though. I just want to keep the wear even between the four tires.
In general (not just for snows) the tires with the most meat on them should be in the rear to prevent fish-tailing. Yes, ESP will HELP you here but remember, all ESP does is lock up wheels (it puts a lot of thought into it though) to keep you in control of the car. The tires it locks up still need to be able to grip the road surface.
Moral of the story, having ESP doesn't mean you don't have to put good tires on the rear anymore, but if you're just doing a seasonal rotation like I did you will be perfectly fine.
