Well the "grey" valve hose is listed in eEuroparts as " Name: Oil Trap Hose Part Code: 5961610 Brand: Genuine Saab" and there's some comments about which 04's it applies to and which oil separator box too. It costs slightly less than the similar hose without the valve. I know my car had had the oil separator box replaced because it was cracked. And that's about all I knew about the car. As mentioned I replaced the vacuum lines (5ft total) and the special three legged hose-thing for the boost control valve, and then also the three valves (boost control, bypass control, and bypass). Oh and the o-ring at the end of the bypass pipe. I recite all this because the comparison before and after was phenomenal. Prior doing the plumbing work the car would "drum roll" going up hill and regularly "boing". (No farts, sorry!). This all went away and I use the radio now. Most significantly of all though, the lag after pressing the gas pedal was gone, and the car became a pleasure to drive. I still have nagging doubts about gremlins in the PCV system. I made a very amateurish manometer with some clear tubing and colored water and tried to monitor the PCV pressures while driving (they are very small - see the incredible post by Swedecar on this). Finally I figured that even if I knew the PCV pressures it wouldn't tell me if my engine was going sludgy or not, so I went back to making sure the individual components were functioning, and hence the grey valve hose story. I have also bought a handful of misc PCV check valves for other car types to see if I could find an alternative good check valve to use, but so far all the ones I bought have turned out to be smaller diameter than the grey valve.
On a tangent, not really a PCV thing, but sludge related....my car had a bad thermostat, after I replaced that, the oil pressure warning came on briefly. Odd, but true! . When I checked the dipstick my golden synthetic nectar had suddenly turned black and wretched. I believe the oil cooler bypass thermostat must finally have opened and whatever had been lurking in the oil cooler for millennia suddenly dumped into the system. So I removed the oil thermostat and flushed the oil and refilled with Amsoil 40 and reinstalled the oil stat and so far so good. Fingers crossed.
I'm still planning to drop the pan. I just have to know!
Meanwhile I have to say the $200+ for the 3 valves and the vacuum hose was money very well spent on the 5 year old car.
Good luck!
