I learned the hard way a few years ago about how poor Scan Tech Parts are the hard way. Did a timing chain replacement on my bros 1990 900. Used Scan Tech timing guides, etc. Job came out perfect. About a year later the car was making a funny noise, like the timing chain was rattling. How could that be?? ALL that stuff was just replaced. Needless to say, took off the valve cover and peered into the timing chain area; little bits of rubber were everywhere. The long chain guide had worn right down to the metal underneath. What a disaster. Had to take out the engine to seperate it a clean out all the metal shavings and rubber parts that were in the sump... just changing the oil was not a 100% sure way to make sure there was no debris attached to the oil pick-up. Anyway, took out the engine, did EVERYTHING all over again. This time used SAAB only parts. All went well. Car had well over 250,000 when the body was junk... too much rust. And well over 100,000 on that timing chain job. Engine still ran well. I will never use Scan Tech again. The few extra $$$ you might save in the beginning is not worth it. Stick with SAAB or a TRUE OEM supplier!!!
