Do the Bilstein have a lifetime warranty? The load issue as I see it is a mechanical problem and not only a damper problem. The improper choice of springs (and perhaps other hardware) leads to overloading the dampers and damper failure. That is why the OEM dampers fail so early. People claimed Bilstein would be better, but as you indicate, even the much beefier Bilstein will fail under load with stock springs. I think that indicates the extent to which the stock suspension design is defective.

It doesn’t take more than occasional loading to begin to see the 9-5’s suspension defects. 2 or 3 long loaded runs a year will certainly do it.

Keep us posted on the Koni FSD. I’m curious to see how they handle your use given that the Bilstein could not.
