I took my 9-5 Aero in for warranty work on the ACC monday afternoon and got the car back at the end of today (Wednesday). It is under CPO warranty 'til 12/31/09. I've had the car in 2x for ACC issues in the summer, and now once in the cold.

Problem from last week:

I bought this car about 18 months ago with 36k. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and drive all around the area on sales calls. In the summer I drive in 100+ degree temps, and this week is probably the coldest I've experienced in this car.

In the hot months I complain the ACC just doesn't freeze me like I think it should. The dealer worked on the system a few times in the summer, and it always seemed colder after the work, but a shortly thereafter I still felt it's not freezing me out. One time they did a dye test, replaced something, and gave me new refrigerant.

The unit doesn't throw any codes when I to the calibrate mode. The real annoyance during the hot months is that the fan would run higher (and louder, therefore more annoying) than I felt it should.

Now it's COLD out (high 20's - 30's overnight). When I got in the car this morning I set the ACC to 72 and began a 20 mile drive. It never felt toasty in the car. So I turned it to 80, still not toasty. Then went to HI and finally got heat. I let it warm up, then set it back to 72 and then got cold air out. NOT what I wanted, so I set the fan down to low.

UPDATE:

Service writer:
"Customer states cannot get hot air from vents until set to high. Please check and advise".

Tech notes on paperwork:
"Verified concern.
Checked heater hose routing. Okay.
Checked for codes stored in ACC. None found.
Removed panel, found motor for blend door.
Found shaft for distribution cracked. Replaced shaft and rechecked. Works except motor is noisy when travels to the end.
Replaced noisy motor. Recalibrated system and rechecked.
Okay at this time."

I got in the car, drove home. SAME PROBLEM. Set the heat at one notch below HI, barely any heat. I'm out of the car for 2 days, and I've wasted 4 hours in transit and no fix.

Parts replaced were:
50-48-988 Electric Motor
12-765-864 Shaft

Any hints?

I may try another dealer as these guys have had 3 shots at the ACC this year.

Also, if it's not solved by the end of CPO warranty, will the work be covered for an additional time (30 days? 60 days?) since the original complaint was not resolved?

Randy
