You can install it quite easy using a harness I bought at Best Buy. It will connect the RCA outs on the new unit to you factory amp.

I had the canadian equivalent to BestBuy do this. But the new headunit sounds horrible if you keep everything else factory. Mine was the Pioneer AVH-3100-DVD.

This brings me to the most important point...It was probably the lazy, un-knowledgable installer that made my experience so awfull, and the final product very sub-par. I demanded full refund and reversal of the work done, and got it.

If you get any audio work performed, do yourself a favor and stay away from these "Quick Lube" electronics chain stores.

Go back and read that last sentence again.

I say this because, I too, have the HK 9 speaker system, but desperatly want mp3 capability. So, I've spent weeks researching the topic. I highly doubt you can upgrade the headunit, retain the amp and speakers, and still have it all sound good.
Anyone who has documented their audio builds online always replaces everything. I have yet to read of anyone only swapping out headunits and be left happy. Certainly, on the popular or premium sound systems, but not the prestige, like mine and yours.

As for you steering wheels controls, you can get adapters for 95% of aftermarket headunits to work with any car. These will cost about $80 online.
A european antenna adaptor is needed, but this is cheap.
Make sure you get ground loop isolators. $15 each, front and rear.

Email me if you want more details on my nighmare lol.

Personally, I'm not touching the audio in my car again untill I have enough to do the shot gun effect and change everything.
