The problem was in the electrical metal connectors. They did not have enough clamping and the resistance created made the heat that burns up the bulbs and the plastic connector housing.
You can't get new ones from Saab for the 9-5 but there is a repair kit for the 9-3SS that uses the same bulbs. They are much more robust.
