I drove my former 9-5 280K miles; at 200K miles I had to replace the windshield for the exact same reason you've described....it was sandblasted and difficult to see out of under certain lighting conditions. Then a high speed stone created a crack that grew before my eyes.

I went to SafeLite Auto Glass to have my windshield replaced. They contacted the insurance company, got approval and did the job...at a cost of zero.

SafeLite Auto Glass is a large nationwide firm. There is no advantage to getting OEM glass, unless spending twice as much money is an obsession for you. They use PPG glass, and they do nothing but auto glass. If you check, don't be surprised to find that they are doing auto glass for most of the small body shops in your area.
