Initially, I thought I had oil in my coolant. But after today's instant, I don't think it's oil.

I was driving home today from a ten minute emergency trip to the store, and as I was pulling in to a parking space, I heard a pop and smoke started pouring out of my car, just like it would if a hose went out. I parked the car, turned it off instantly, and my coolant is thick looking. I take a break and let it cool down for a half hour.

It blew all around the reservoir area of the engine (battery, fuse box, etc) The reservoir was dry. I got some spare coolant, and filled it up. I left the cap off, and started the engine and after sitting for about 15 seconds, it started coming out of the top of the reservoir (good, there's pressure). I top it off again, then close the cap, and start the engine again. Let it sit for a couple minutes. Everything is fine, nothing is leaking anywhere, radiator is even warming back up.

My only guess is that the radiator cap needs replaced. But I am kind of worried because of how my coolant looks, I've never seen coolant look like this before. Here is a picture:

Not sure how worried I should be. A week ago my coolant looked nice and clean. Weird.

Anybody have any idea what's going on here, and can I drive it to a shop? Never had this happen to a car before. Thanks so much.
