Emergency Bypass Valve Fix - Brass or Epoxy? Posted by navid [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Turns out I need to drive my car 5hrs and won't get a bypass valve till next week.
Thinking of two solutions
1) Getting a single brass fitting and putting the two hoses on it and sending the coolant from straight into heater core out (no heat). Will that cause any problems (just double checking). Will I need anything other than a single 3/4 brass fitting?

2) Epoxy on the coolant bypass valve. I've heard of this, but not sure where to epoxy and if there will be unintended consequences to this route? What type of epoxy and how long will it take to dry? Just smear it all over the old bypass valve? (I haven't removed it yet, but I'll be doing that after work)
Thanks for any advice (even if you haven't done it, it might give me something to think about).
