I've used all three in the 20 year history of my 9000. I have to say that the Deluxe are my favorite. They used have no dust, no squeal and a good feel. About 5 years ago PBR changed the formula so that the produced a little more dust and some squeal, but I still think they are best for normal driving. The Metal Masters made more noise, had a better bite, but were tough on rotors. I never experienced the no-brakes-in-the-morning effect, but other people have complained about it.
The Ultimate have the best feel, but loads of dust, incredible amounts actually, and noise about same as the metal masters.
The Akebonos really are the best, though. I have those on my 9-5 and my wife's Honda, and they really don't have any faults under normal use.
For as often as you change pads, every 40K, more or less, why not spend the extra money?
