Giving you a hard time about using good oil makes me doubt their competence. With the sludge problem these engines have, 100% full synth and frequent change intervals is essential.
I can't see how anyone could 'sabotage' a turbo though - they are pretty much a sealed box and it would be a ton of work to do anything to harm it.
Once you get a look inside the turbo it will be pretty obvious if it died on its own or if it had some help.
The GT17 turbo is fragile, it's not unheard of for it to die in 60k miles but not common.
Do you not have an independent Saab mechanic available nearby? No reason to visit the stealer once you're off warranty unless it's the only service resource you have.
That's gotta be the lowest mileage 2000 9-5 in the world. I'd be very concerned about engine sludge - short trips (low miles) and the use of non-synthetic oil is a recipe for disaster. Did you have an engine flush or anything unusual done at oil change time? How long since the last change?
