Boost Problem (base boost?)

I was driving around about a week and it felt like my car was not pulling in the higher rpms like it normally does. I didn't really think too much of it, but something seemed to be wrong. It didn't have the put you into the back of your seat feel in the higher RPMs. Today, I noticed that the Boost Gauge Needle would only go about 1/2 into the yellow (3/4 into yellow max), whereas it used to go into the red.
I have done some searching around the forum for this. However, I have not come up with any concrete answers. It seems that there is a whole list of possible problems. These seem to be the most popular ideas: worn hoses (especially around BPC), a check valve (although I'm not sure which one), wastegate actuator rod, and DI cassette. Before I go spending lots of money trying to find out whats wrong, I thought I would try to get some opinions to see which people think is most likely and get an order to tackle the list in. Please let me know what you think and if you have any other ideas.
I did a quick visual inspection of the hoses going into and out of the turbo and wastegate and didn't seem to find anything.
