Check your setup again because it sounds like a unlikely scenario what you have done.
What I think is happening is that you are actually backfeeding power from pin +30 of relay to the ignition switch side of fuse 30 and making the signal strong enough to overcome a bad gear selector switch.
The way you do it, you don't have to take the power from starter relay pin +30 but you could take battery power from anywhere, like the positive battery post and feed it to fuse 30, bypassing the need for power from ignition switch.
What's more important is if you have full power and amperage at fuse 30 when this happens and what the power and amperage is at pin 86 on starter relay.
If you have lower voltage and amperage at pin 86 then fuse 30, the gear selector switch is bad. If you have low voltage and amperage at fuse 30 and pin 86, the ignition switch could be faulty.
