1000 mile update on new '02 Linear Wagon 5-speed mauual w/ premium package

Likes
1. Very fast, great handling & comfortable. Rock-solid at high-speed. Best road-trip car made?
2. Snow/ inclement weather handling just fine despite no AWD. Gave up AWD, live in Colorado and ski 3x/week.
3. Good fit and finish. Feels really solid.
4. Small, thoughtful luxury touches -- auto dimming mirror, storage pocket at front edge of seats, courtesy headlight feature, etc.
5. Tons of room -- is 9-5 wagon the biggest manual-shift car available on the U.S. market?
6. SID is great.
7. Great value -- same price as a loaded Passat.
8. Dealer -- Tynan's -- was great, despite two-month wait for car.

Concerns/questions
1. Headlights on low beam are quite weak -- I can easily outdrive them at even 65mph. Wierd distribution pattern. Yes, they're properly aimed and hologen. Have read other comments / complaints of this on TSN and haven't seen a suggested fix. Big problem.
2. Parking brake came not adjusted.
3. When ACC heat is on high, CDs in HK dash unit get roasted -- too hot to even touch. Can't be good long-term.
4. What appears to be excessive tire noise on certain road surfaces where in my experience an A6 runs quietier.
5. Chimes when locking / un-locking are annoying. Owners manual seems to say this can't be de-programmed. Did a search on TSN and didn't see any posts on this subject.
6. Shift-up indicator is annoying. Saw post that this can be de-programmed by dealer.
7. Odd that OnStar hands-free set-up can't accomodate my existing cell-phone.

Took it on a same-day 525 mile road-trip to Western Colorado right after I bought the car. Three big, twisty passes, used the turbo lots. Have never been more refreshed after such a long trip. Overall, this is a fabulous, luxurious car!
