Started out a few months ago with the tranny light on the dash and the tranny quit. I can't remember the codes I read from the ODBII. I researched it at the time but it wasn't very helpful.
I have now drained and filled the ATF fluid three times and added Lucas tranny additive.
When I first start the car It will go into gear and I can drive about a quarter mile before it starts to "slip" again. I can limp back to the driveway and then it won't go at all either in R or D. When this happens I am not getting the tranny light or the CEL.
I hate to sell it for parts, but can't afford a new tranny or to send it to the dealer (there aren't any indy Saab specialists around here that I can find out). Is the tranny fried or is there some diagnostics I can DIY and possibley fix myself wihout raplacing it? I've never worked on a tranny but not afraid to try. Are there tranny repairs that are pretty inexpensive if I supply the labor? Used trannys seem to go for $500 - $1000 so I can't go there.
If not, I'll just put it on Craigslist.......
Thanks for your support (past and present)
