ACC Code 11 - blend door repair success story

With the help of this website, I determined that my 9-5's passenger blend door was the cause of the crazy symptoms I had encountered when trying to run the A/C: Hot air on right side and back, Cool air on driver's side. I received a code 11 after pushing both off and auto at the same time.
After reading many posts on the subject, I opened up under the dash to reveal the blend door shaft, expecting it to be broken, or at least needing a new lever. Instead, everything looked fine. After testing the mechanism with the dash removed, I found that the motor controlling the blend door (which I had removed so i could see the blend door shaft...) was making vibrating in my hand when receiving a signal to engage the door, but nothing was moving. I separated it from it's housing, and found that it's shaft had simply moved too far away from its motor. The gears at the end of the shaft were no longer engaging with the gears connected to the blend door shaft mechanism in the housing. I only needed to apply pressure to the gear-end of the mechanism to get it to move into proper position, then confirm that it would now engage with the gears on the housing. Problem solved!
Long story short, I would suggest that anyone facing the dreaded code 08 or code 11 first confirm that the servo motor shaft is not an issue for them BEFORE ordering the repair parts.
