All 2004's came with an updated SID that has a higher resolution LCD screen that doesn't lose pixels... unless someone hit it with a 2x4 or something. In which case it would need to be replaced.

As for the service theft alarm, you can just remove it and have a Saab shop or dealer with a Tech-II disable it and just have the horn blare for the alarm. Most 2004+ 9-5's do that anyway. There was only a small batch in early 2004 that came with the siren, mine included. After that it was deleted for cost-saving.

What engine does this car have? The fact that it sounds like it has the old style SID makes me think it's a 2003, in which case it would have the V6 3.0t. Which isn't a bad thing at all.
