Maintain the car. Good quality synthetic motor oil, changed regularly (I go 7-8k miles b/w changes). Stay on top of fluids. Make sure you have the PCV6 mod done.
Frankly, the 9-5 Aero's plenty quick in stock form; if you're wanting to add HP/Tq, start with breathing changes (exhaust and intake) first before adding more boost.
For what little it's worth, the first time the valve cover came off the engine was at 170k, to replace the gasket. While having the original clutch replaced, I had the dealership folks go through the motor and check everything over while it was all apart. The only internal issue? Last fall, at 230k, the mechanic found a connecting rod bearing with a chunk out of it, but otherwise still very much in-spec. Oh, and things were sludge-free, and the car still has the original oil pump in it.
