The DWS has a wear rating of 540, not good for traction. As the tire ages, expect traction control to reduce acceleration, there may be a performance hit from day one with the DWS. Tires get harder as they age from time and heat. Often a long wearing tire will get hard and loss wet traction becomes a danger. Then one should be throwing the tires away, even while there is a lot of tread left. If one needs an all season tire for snow, then you will be throwing the tires away when the tread does not provide safe winter traction.
The DWS has load rating of 91. As does the DW. The DW has a wear rating of 340. The Goodyear tire has a load rating of 94. Some Aero Wagons were fitted with tires of a 94 load rating. I do not know if that was always done and I do not know what Saab recommended.
I can't see road hazard coverage for the DW or DWS at TireRack.
225/45R-17 Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric XL, $167 on sale for $142, plus take off $20 each for the rebate, final cost is $122 each.
VS
Conti ExtremeContact DW $128
There is a $80 rebate for for 225/45R-17 Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric XL tires. Bringing the cost lower than the Conti DW. The ratings all look very close. I talked to a guy at TireRack who had track tested both of these tires himself and he preferred the response of the Goodyear tire. If you are into road hazard coverage, you can get that with the Goodyear tire and it is not offered with the Conti.
Yes, these are summer only tires.
