Coolant Dilemma - '04 Arc

A lot of coolant got blown out underneath the drivers side of my '04 Arc today. With 80K mi on it I suspect the coolant by-pass valve, but in any event need to get it to the shop (unable to DIY).
It is way low on coolant ("coolant low" display light on, and reservoir is empty!) and I have about twenty miles to go (car is at home) to get it to the shop. Although it did not overheat today, I'd be a little worried going that far with it so low.
Dilemma is that the owner's manual gives dire consequences for adding the wrong type of coolant. With the weekend and a very tight travel schedule next week, I probably won't be able to pick up the "SAAB approved coolant" before I'll need to drop off the car at the shop, unless they have it at Walmart, Checkers or Auto Zone.
Can I add just water to get it to the shop and not worry about messing anything up? If so, would distilled water be advisable?
Thanks for any consul.
Ells
