I drive a 1999 9-5 and the wife has a 2004 ARC . The 1999 does have a smoother less harsh ride and the engine is smoother(I4s), but when the weather gets into the 80s the thing is dog slow compared to the 2004 . But I'll likely drive the 1999 for a year or two more, buy something new for the wife and take over the 2004 ARC .
It takes only one stranding for my wife to be disgusted with a car - I'm slightly more tolerant but the 2004 has had to be towed in for service - all warranty work 4 times while the 1999 only once for a failed DIC .
Each time on the 2004 death occured at or near home so no stranding was involved.
Based on your list of replaced stuff - if you carry a spare DIC and maybe have the CPS replaced your odds of another stranding may be decreased. Battery can be proactively replaced as there are usually impending failyre symptoms with those.
