In addition to my Saab, I have a 4 x 4 Suburban. 4WD is obviously superior for forward traction. Vehicles must also turn and stop. In Montana, there are lots of Audi, Subaru etc drivers who run around all year on "all-season" tires. My Saab with dedicated winter tires is better at turning and stopping than those other cars. Except for extreme circumstances, you won't get a Saab with proper tires stuck in the winter unless you high-center it.
