Hidden water in cabin, I want everyone who owns a SAAB 95 (2000 Aero specific) that they may have water under the front carpet and not know it. My SAAB has over 300K on it, I spend 3 hour a day in this car and just recently found this issue. It was only after the plastic pad under the pedals cracked did I find the damage done to the rubber pad. This rubber pad is like a sponge, the water can hide under and inside the pad. The backing under the carpet began breaking down and then the crack in the plastic, which let the water thru. I also now know what the wax like smell is in this car, its the carpet backing, not sure if the water caused the break down or just the use. I have cleaned the evap drains on both sides, I hope this stops the leak but not sure if that is the only problem. Water was found on passenger side also with no signs of water above the carpet. This seems to be a design flaw to me, that can cause long term issues depending car use and location. If anyone knows of this problem and can give me an idea of the root cause please let me know.
