I discovered a sharkfin replacement cap available at Pep Boys for $4.99. The rubberized outer skin on my 9-5 wagon cracked and began peeling apart, so I finished the job by removing all of the rubberized coating. The plastic cap will fit over the remaining hard plastic with a few modifications: Use a dremel or drill with a grinding /file bit and trim the inside lip of the replacement cap around the circumference of the bottom. Use a souldering iron and melt the 1/8 inch lip of the antenna on the car and trim up as necessary. I used black polysulfide caulk - only because I had some already open used for my boat, and it looks good as new.
The cap is made by Pilot automotive, part number CZ-292CF. It has a carbon fiber appearance but looks better than the original! No need to
