Buying a 2000 SE V6 with 90k on the clock. The timing BELT was replaced right around 60k, but apparently not any of the ancillaries.
I know this is not recommended, but is there any reliable history on just belts being replaced? Can the tensioner & pulleys go to the next belt change at 120k? Do they demonstrate signs of impending doom (rattles, squeals, etc.), or fail with no warning? Car is a good deal, so I'm not too worried about the cost, and it runs like a champ.
I'm just trying to figure out if its really something I need to attend to in the next 5-10k or less (belt, tensioner, pulleys, water pump, serp belt), or not... I also realize that it is something of a crapshoot...
Anders?
