Hi-I have a 2000 Aero Wagon w/a 5-speed and 101K miles that I have owned for the past 2 years. After a few months of ownership the car slowly developed a pronounced hesitation, especially in 2nd gear and would only boost to around 14 psi. I installed a manual boost controller which slightly helped the hesitation and the boost would reach 20 psi but fall back sharply. The other side affect was that it would trigger the CEL and code P1549 would come up on the scanner. I consulted the WIS and figured it was altering the fuel/air mix so I removed the controller and tried most of the suggestions I found on this board-fuel filter, new plugs, vacuum lines-no change. Last summer I came across an identical 2000 Aero wagon for parts and started exchanging components to see if it cured the hesitation and lack of overboost. Mass air sensor, DIC (version 3.7), wastegate, boost control valve, new vacuum lines, turbo by-pass valve-no change in performance. Frustrated, I re-installed the boost control valve at its lowest setting and was getting great boost. Recently, I started to hear what I figured was the dreaded "hooter valve" sound. I put my vacuum gauge on both valves that I have and they both held vacuum and I could see the diaphram move. The noise occurs just as the turbo gauge passes dead center. I'm getting code P1549 again, (no other codes), and I've had the CEL flash when I ask for full boost. Off comes the controller but the noise and hesitation is still there. I'm not sure where to go from here-any suggestions would be helpful. I apologize for the long post but I tried to cover all the bases and I'm out of ideas. I've owned Saabs on and off for over 30 years and this is the most frustrating problem I've dealt with.
