Thanks again, Scott. I really don't want to drop the tank, there seems to be too much plumbing involved. I looked at a replacement tank, at the salvage yard, and besides the fill-tubes and vent, there's also small (1/4") plastic lines for the charcoal cannister which hangs on the tank. I already have the fuel lines disconnected (I've plenty of experience w/them on 9000's) but it appears there is plenty of slack with the electrical wires to the pump, so I've left them connected. What I may do different is use something called Seal-All to secure the sensor, sans pedestal. I've used this stuff before, when I had a leak in the gas tank of my Chevy pick-up. It's both an adhesive and a sealant, good for many different materials, and will actually stop leaks while there's still gas in the tank.
I did drain the tank - fortunately, the Yankee in me refuses to throw away anything. In my garage I have some old fuel lines from 9000's, 900's, and yes, even some 99's. I used one from the 9000, cut the check-ball out of it, plugged it into the 9-5, and was able to drain the tank by pumping it out, directly into my pick-up! Anyway, thanks again for your original post, and your quick response.
