Wow, that's an issue I would not like to touch if it is in fact a slight indentation/gouge in the cast iron block and that it is believed that the slight coolant leak into the combustion chamber has happened in that area.
If it had been the older Saab engines using the fiber head gasket, the chances of success would be much better but with this thin sheet metal gasket which has very little give in filling voids, I'm not so sure.
I would probably rely on the 518 sealant just as much as trying to use epoxi all depending on how deep that scratch is.
Also using a flat file to see if it is any high ridges from the impact that could be filed down making the groove even shallower.
