Well Larry - its not to hard to work out which way this board'll lean!

I've run a a 97 9-4se to well beyond 100,000 miles - and it felt the same way when the leasing company had it back (not a happy bunch as the lease was for 60k!) - people who drove it (company auto) all said it drove like a new car. The dealer nearest me in the UK has customers getting close to 200k on original engines and transmissions - the 9-5 will last.

I have a 9-5 Aero Sedan on order here in the UK for delivery early May - the plan is to keep it for at least four years - I drive about 30,000 miles a year - I'm buying it with my own money - what can I say? To make that kind of commitment you need pretty damn sure the thing will last.

Saab's don't date or go out of fashion all that quickly (I reckon the S60 will date) - if you plan to keep it long term the Saab is a better bet.

HOWEVER I have found that as with most autos the quality of the local dealer is absolutely crucial - get some local recommendations.
