As an FYI,
I've had 2 CPO Saabs, 1 was an 00 9-3, CPO cost when I bought the car was $1500 in 2004, in 2008 I bought an 06 9-5 sportcombi, again, the CPO price was $1500. I told both dealers that I thought their selling price was fair, and that I would buy the car at the listed price if they did the CPO for "free" if you will.
For me on both cars, the CPO has been a great experience and great value. I definitely recommned it, in both cases, new tires were put on the cars due to the CPO process. However, with both cars, I've made great use of the CPO, for example on the 9-3, the turbo and ENTIRE AC system was replaced, and on the 9-5, I've had a wheelbearing go, heater bypass valve, battery, some trim issues, throttle body, 1 xenon bulb replaced, and the battery replaced. In addition, with the CPO, you get a Free loanger car from the dealer.
If you don't feel good with this dealer, maybe work with another one, but in my humble opinion, the CPO is really worth it, especially if you don't work on these yourself, which I definitely do not do, due to lack of skill/knowledge/etc.
Thanks and good luck!
