If the radio can still be powered with the key removed, your ignition switch is probably not 'popping up' when you remove the key.
Key it on, then off, and pull the key out, if the lock cylinder stays depressed down inside the trim ring and doesn't spring back up 1/4" or so, it just needs lubricated.
I usually drip a little brake cleaner (or a few drops of gasoline if you have that handy) or some other solvent that will evaporate down into the cylinder, and then work the key in and out and turn on and off till it starts popping back up. Then lubricate with dry graphite.
If it's really gummed up you may need to do a round of WD-40 down the tumbler and down the sides of the lock cylinder (remove the trim ring with the transponder receiver first - twist it and then it pops out). Get it freed up, then do a round of solvent to dissolve the WD-40 back out (it'll attract dirt and gum up again), let dry, then graphite.
