It seems that the problem with the ABS is broken wire internally. This is a fairly common problem that can occur after a certain amount of vibration and heating/cooling cycles.
I would remove the controller and send to BBA or ATE. the junkyard part may be 500 miles from failing or 90,000 miles from failing. Or may never fail......too much of a crapshoot for me on a part that fails often.
I would rather have one that a rebuilder has looked at, fixed, test on their test fixture and guaranteed for life.
I did my ABS controller with BBA 60,000 miles ago. Has been totally reliable. Displayed all symptoms you had. If the battery is fully charged, your symptoms are typical of ABS controller failure.
