2.3 liter 9-5 engine rebuild

I have a 1999 9-5 2.3 lpt (150,000 miles) that needs an engine replacement. It has been sitting for several months now after the oil pump went out and a couple cylinders lost compression.
I would like to have it rebuilt if possible, but after searching on the internet every way I can think of, I have yet to find a company that rebuilds these engines. One rebuilding cite did not recommend rebuilding Saab engines claiming the walls were too thin to bore for reconditioning and only recommended buying used engines.
Is it true that these engines can not be rebuilt?
If I am going to the expense of an engine replacement, I would hate to run the risk of buying used without the engine being remanufactured. This is especially true for these older engines, many of which were not properly oiled with synthetic oil. I think that is what happened to this one. The prior owners probably did not religiously use synthetic.
This car is in very good shape otherwise as I have spent lots of time and money over the last five years replacing worn out parts. I hate to scrap the thing when it looks like it could easily go for another 10 years with a decent engine.
So should I just sell it for parts and buy another, or is there a solution to my engine needs?
