After looking into it a little I see I didn't have to take the door panels off after all. In less than 15 minutes I had the trim around the windows off and both of the mirrors removed! They really didn't look that bad on the outside, which is why I was surprised at how much discoloration I was getting on the paint below. I was shocked at how much corrosion was on the inside when I got the mirrors off. Does anyone know how to get the lower plastic housing off that covers most of the bracket. I need to get that off to really clean off all of that corrosion and paint it? Also any tips on cleaning off all of that crude?
