$150 for a used "guaranteed working" pump + module combo isn't a bad thing to try, I figured.
Recap:
The codes I had before were C0131 pressure sensor. When the indy replaced the pressure sensor and the codes came back on my trip home, I made another appt the week after and they rode with me hoping the lights would come back on (of course they didn't). When he tried scanning the codes again it suddenly said C0551 can not find or communicate with ABS module.
When I had the C0131 error, it would come on after the car was warm, it would have taken more than the mile of driving before I had my near collision this morning for the fault to disable the whole ABS system.
Now that I have the C0551 problem, the lights are on as soon as I start the car and I obviously don't have ESP or ABS keeping me safer. They said I should get the module rebuilt (I paid for this on a fleabay auction last year and never sent it in since it wasn't the common P1625 I think) and BBA said it checked out on whatever they use to test it (they probably don't hook it up to a car to try and drive with it though).
If this doesn't work I found a used engine wiring harness that includes the ABS module connector. I'll try that next. Maybe the ABS module connector can be removed from that?
