now the starter??? Do they have the new kid training or something?
Here's what i think happened:
The shop suggested the worse, so you wouldn't feel bad later (if it was destroyed). Then they got to thinking- maybe you'll just let them keep the car, and they will fix it later, whatever was wrong with it. THEN you started talking about insurance companys. There is a big difference between taking a little something from you, and the insurance company. They know that the ins co will probably do a little investigating, and getting caught out there would be fraud. So, now they are looking at what is actually wrong with it, and hey presto! Just needs a starter! Not quite as good for them, but they'll surely still take you for a little extra diagnosis, etc. I expect your bill will end up just over $1000. Just my guess, not worth anything. In any case, sounds like it is coming around to your favour, so good luck!
