About a month ago, my ABS system started showing warning lights on the dash. ABS, Traction, Check engine lights would all come on and you could not shift out of park without using the manual release that you poke a screwdriver in. I took it to the Saab dealership and they said my ABS module was bad and would be $3000 to replace. I was willing to try about anything to not pay that much so sent the module off for a rebuild that can be done for about $100 hoping that would solve the problem. It didn't so I took it to an independent shop in Houston that specializes in European cars. After keeping it for about a week they finally said the air pressure sensor on the abs module was bad and the hydraulic control unit needed to be replaced. I had that done for $2000 and the brakes now seem fine (not that I could ever tell there was a problem except for the warning lights). However, when I was driving home from the repair shop I noticed that the cruise control did not work. It had worked on the way up there so I know it was something they did. I took it back and they tried to tell me my brake boost had a leak and the cruise worked off a vacuum. I have a hard time believing it is a vacuum based system. My local mechanic could not find anything obviously unplugged on the cruise electronics. Any ideas on what could be the problem? I love the car but keeping it running is breaking me!!!
