First, I hope you're sitting down, as the bulb will cost you at least $7.00 for the switch. And I've yet to locate any source other than the dealer.
To get at the switch, you need to pull up the finish trim that surrounds the shifter. If you have a manual, I believe you need to remove the shifter boot from where it is attached at the trim piece. It should be an elastic type thing in the bottom of the boot. For an auto, you need to lift off the outer trim moulding around the shifter. DON'T use a screwdriver, but find wide trim removal tools to get it off.
Next, you'll have to remove the little cubby in front of the shifter, or ashtray if you've got that. Remove the seat heater and seat ventilator switches. Behind the cubby or ashtray, there are two TORX screws. Remove these.
Now, insert a wide trim tool between the BACK edge of the trim piece, and the rest of the console top. Lever the trim carefully to go forward and up. It's really easy, but looks hard at first. Note that the trim WILL NOT come out of you try to pull the front end where the switches are. Once the trim's back edge is clear of the console, you can move it towards the back of the car, and rotate it up and out from the front.
The switch merely presses out the bottom of the trim.
If you've got an autu, now would be a good time to look up changing your "W" light, and the shifter light!
