The good news...I had the mechanic look at the vacuum line today and there was one that needed reconnecting. It caused the fault code to go away so all looked good.
Now the bad news...I hadn't even driven 1/4 mile from the shop when the light came back on and the turbo was still not functioning correctly so back to the shop where they discovered the turbo has an issue that they were unable to diagnose right there and then. They are not comfortable working on these units so they weren't looking for me to schedule another appointment for repair.
Questions:
1) Anyone know of a good Saab indy mechanic south of Boston? They seem to be few and far between in my neck of the woods (Marshfield).
2) We purchased this car as a CPO in Feb '06 with 45K miles. I have no idea what type of oil was used in it before, but we have been running synthetic under our watch every 6K miles. Is the sludge issue something that can cause turbo damage?
3) If the turbo fails completely, can the car still be driven?
Thank you in advance for any and all comments/suggestions.
Scott
