Re: AMM REBUILD? Posted by JustinHiFi [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: AMM REBUILD?, saabsince 93b ![]() ![]() |
Im with Anders on this. Sure companies rebuild them but seems they are half-ass rebuilt.
Client last year brought rebuilt AMM for install along with a 60k service '00 9-5 Aero. Air mass deviation was 5% at idle unloaded ac off. Rebuilt (first) meter was 12%, second 9%, third 11% with CEL. After three strikes, client finally settled on a a new unit which came in at 0%. It was twice the price, but new was only 20% the cost of installing a good used/rebuilt engine if he cracked a piston etc.
On any Viggen, Aero or HOT, suggest cleaning or replacement at 60k interval or scan with Tech 2 each oil change to monitor AMD. Any tuned (stage +) should have new AMM at 60ks as preventive maintenance no questions asked if running stock pistons.
New are not cheap, but far cheaper than a new/used engine.
