I recently picked up a 2006 9-5 and am having difficulty achieving the proper atf level. I warmed the vehicle up to about 80c as suggested but when I pulled the dipstick fluid came pouring out of the top all over the exhaust manifold and onto the floor. As I assumed it was overfilled I decided to drain the fluid (which should get 4 quarts) and then add the correct amount through the dipstick but I could not get much back in (1.5 quarts) before it overfilled again and poured back out. My question then is if the tranny is overfilled by 2 quarts will one be able to drain 6 quarts or will it still be overfilled after the drain and so one should only be able to add 2 quarts upon refill? Car runs great just trying learn how to do normal maintenance on the beast.
Thanks
Sean
