Here's the story. I test drove my first SAAB last week. Loved it. A 2002 9-5 Arc sportswagon. I'm tall and big, but I don't want a huge car. I value reliability very highly. I looked real hard at Acura's, but they don't fit me as well as the 9-5. I've driven a variety of Honda's, Toyota's, and now a Subaru Outback, all of which have been supremely relaible. Never stranded in 30 years! Placed an order for the Saab Arc last Friday. It's being picked up in another city (I'm in the Midwest US)for delivery late this week. I'm getting pretty nervous reading this board, which I've been doing for hours (thank you all for your postings...seem to be lots of love/hate relationships!).
I must travel some distance between cities, to meet speaking and consulting engagements, and it will be a significant problem to not show up on time.
So what happens when I break down in the middle of Kansas, or South Dakota? Say 100 to 200 miles to nearest Saab dealer. How do I get to my appointments? Do they deliver a rental car for me to use? How long does it take to get underway again? And how do I get my repaired Saab back? Drive to to repairing dealer I assume, wherever that may be. I'd love to hear your experience in this type of situation.
I've been planning to purchase, but I'm now considering leasing so I can walk away from a bad car in 3 years if need be. Or maybe I should just squeeze into that Acura..(reliability!)..
Help!
