Ok since you ARE putting the regulator pins in the center if the rollers it doesn't matter which way the retainer pin is facing. I thought if the regulator pin were not going through the center then travel in the slot would be an issue if the regulator were going to push the roller through the end of the track if you had it backwards.
I do have a tip to share that may help others so that the help flow is not just one way. When pressing in for the second click to do the front roller (closer to the side view mirror) you must use the longer opening in the bottom of the door. I could not get my pliers in far enough to second-click the rear roller so I had to move the window up halfway such that the rear roller was accessible via the smaller hole where the blue door handle cable is.
One click was sufficient to get it where it needed to be so that I could do the second click.
Thanks all for the help! This is a new to me car that I am awaiting title for so I can register it and I had kicked the wife out of the garage all week. Time to move the cars around after pitting back all the trim (hopefully no pitfalls await there.
