The 4 cyl is ok to replace the cable but the V6 is a nightmare with several almost hidden bolts where you have to use 1/4" extensions in different length and feel your way with your fingers to get to the bolt heads.
When the whole harness is loose it is still a struggle to turn and twist it to get it out and in behind the starter.
I see several cars coming in with new alternators or batteries but the cable still burned to toast at the alternator lug nut and that tells me it was maybe not the alternator or battery in the first place or that the underlying problem to why the battery or alternator burned out is still there.
Volvo have a similar problem with the 850 but more so the 99-2000 70 model where the positive battery terminal gets oxidized around cable strands and alternator cannot feed battery well enough. It is an easy test because if you burn yourself putting your finger on the battery terminal with the engine running for awhile, it is bad.
