Yes, my rims are 7.5" wide. If I upgrade to the 245-45-17, it will definitely handle better but the clearance will be less since the diameter of the tire has increased from 25.32" to 25.68". After speaking to a SAAB technician, he says it is still within the 3% diameter difference it should be fine. However, by upgrading the tire size from 235-45-17 to 245-45-17, it has also changed the speed rating of the tire from H (130MPH) to W (168MPH). This will also change the composition of the sidewall to handle the higher temperatures of the W rated time. The W rated tire will also be a much firmer ride and I would not be respecting the ride height. I prefer to stay within spec in regards to the suspension and the comfort of the H for the pothole filled streets in my city (Montreal, Quebec). If you upgrade to the 245-45-17 they will be fine but there will be some compromises.
Thank you.
