9-3 Vector is a first model year. I would be careful looking at those, in particular the automatics. I suppose it's quite possible you could find one that is sorted out nicely + well maintained though... 9-3 is a bit smaller, mainly in the back seat. For those, I would mainly look 2005+

We looked at a bunch of cars before buying a 2004 9-5 arc. To me, that was the best balance of lower risk of sludge + mechanical issues, low insurance cost, low price + good performance. Aero would be nice, but a touch higher insurance + more demand so higher price. 2004 Arc has some of the Aero performance anyway, enough for me, anyway... Your 2003 arc was the last one with the v6. 2004 gets a 2.3L + TD04 like the aero, just not as stiff, low, or fast... fuel economy is very good on the highway. fantastic touring car!
