Two Bosch fuel filters for the 9-5 Posted by MI-Roger [Email] ![]() ![]() |
I am getting the parts ready for my next Major Interval Service and noticed I have two options for Bosch fuel filters.
#71005 and #71039. The #71005 costs ~$18 and is claimed to be a higher filtration version of the #71039. the #71039 can be purchased in a kit with all four sealing washers for ~$11.
Saving money is good. HIgher filtration is good. Higher filtration normally means higher pressure drop (i.e. more work required by the expensive fuel pump) and potentially lower fuel pressure/flow at the fuel rail (i.e. risk of runing lean), both of which are not good.
Is the #71005 the real OEM part? Any risk associated with using the lower cost filter as I tend to remember the OEM filter being quite expensive in the past.
