Just did one with 145k on a 01 wagon. I got a replacement with the manifold from xboost on ebay. 2nd LPT / Garrett that I got from him, one i4 and it has lasted 60-70k. So this one should be ok. Actually a bit easier to do than the i4. Here are some hints.....
1) Make sure to hit the exhaust manifold bolts with Blaster a few times
2) If the studs for the left (passenger) most side do not come out, cut them off leaving as much on as you can and either take them out or if enough use them shortened. This will save a ton of time getting the manifold off.
3) Drain oil and anitfreeze
Otherwise, really not that bad of a job. The replacement part is 300-400 and if that is the only thing that is wrong, depends on the price of the car and the price of the timing belt. The belt should have been done at 60k, but could do the belt at the same time. I have not done a belt, but others on the board have.
I would also do a compression test on each cylinder to see if there is any kind of a head gasket issue. These have been known to go.
Otherwise good luck... What color / Year?
